Description

Fibre optic sensing is rapidly emerging as a powerful capability within research and education networks, enabling existing telecom infrastructure to be used as a large-scale environmental sensor, as well as supporting new applications for NRENs.

This infoshare will present the results of a recent survey of NRENs, highlighting current activities and areas of interest across the community. The session will provide a high-level overview of fibre sensing technologies relevant to NRENs, share early insights and use cases, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how fibre sensing is evolving within the community, including its role in supporting scientific research, alongside growing interest in infrastructure monitoring and new service development.

The event will be recorded.
