Adapting training to learning trends in the Network eAcademy

Network eAcademy feedback indicates that learners show a preference for quizzes and interactive learning content. At the same time, new ways of learning shaped by digital platforms and artificial intelligence are arising. Many learners now rely on AI tools to summarize videos, extract key points, or provide quick explanations. The tolerance for long, linear content has decreased, favouring shorter, more dynamic learning experiences that deliver value quickly. This GNA-G Network eAcademy Working Group Open Meeting will explore how these emerging learning habits are transforming expectations around training. If learners increasingly consume condensed knowledge rather than full-length material, how should trainers in the Network eAcademy respond? The aim of the session is to discuss the opportunities and risks we foresee in the Network eAcademy training, including AI-mediated learning, or the inclusion of more interactivity in the units. We will brainstorm together strategies to maintain engagement in our training align with contemporary learning behaviours without sacrificing quality, rigor, or meaningful learning outcomes. We need to find ways to integrate AI tools into our training and education systems rather than becoming dependent on them. The goal should be to use AI as a tool that enhances learning and development, not as a substitute for critical thinking and human expertise. Input from other training programmes is more than welcome, to align strategies and share ideas and pain points.
