Description

The SUBMERSE Consortium and its 25 partners invite you to the SUBMERSE Project Final Event, taking place on 15–17 April 2026 in Copenhagen.

Over the past three years, the project has explored how Europe’s submarine fibre-optic cables can become scientific tools for seismology, oceanography, and marine biology. As SUBMERSE enters its final phase, the consortium is bringing the community together in Copenhagen to share results, reflect on the journey so far, and discuss what comes next for fibre sensing in Europe.

The event will bring together partners from research institutions, industry, and the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) to present project results, offer training sessions, and explore future research directions.

What to expect

Day 1 – 15 April 2026 – Community Event

The opening afternoon focuses on scientific applications. A keynote on geoscience and oceanographic use cases will be followed by hands-on training sessions using fibre-sensing data (DAS and SOP).

Day 2 – 16 April 2026 – Project Results

This day is dedicated to sharing results from across Europe. Updates will be presented from SUBMERSE fibre-sensing sites in Norway, Portugal, Greece, and Italy, alongside sessions on data management and opportunities for discussion.

Day 3 – 17 April 2026 – Closing and future directions

The final day will focus on future research directions and collaboration beyond the project, including a closing keynote.
